Hi Frank,
My husband and I would like to visit Thailand in late October/early November. Where would you suggest to go for 5-6days of peace and beauty? We wish for killer sunsets, secluded and unspoiled sandy beaches, good massages, and somewhere not too crazy (ie, Phuket or Koh Samui are out). Do these nice places exist?
We were in Boracay and loved it but really want to experience Thailand this time. Please help!
Thanks and cheers,
Susan
Hi Susan,
There are not many really secluded places left in Thailand it seems. There are exceptions but they lack the infrastructure most travelers want. We went down just south of Chumpon earlier this year and that was very nice. But with the lack of dining options and stores we were forced to eat at the resort or drive into the city to find anything to eat at night.
We stayed at Hat Sairee and were basically alone on the beach everyday. But the beach faces east so killer sunsets have to be found elsewhere. There was a killer sunrise that we captured on camera though.
But there are many places to go that are much better than Samui or Phuket I think. The coast and some of the islands around and south of Krabi are probably best. Check out Trang. There are beaches there where you can practically be alone. I haven’t ventured much down there and it’s been many years since the last time so I’m probably not the best to ask.
If you don’t mind other travelers you could also look into for example Koh Samet, Koh Kuut (Koh Chang), Phang Na, Koh Lipe or Koh Lanta. All of those places are still very nice. Some of them are already overly developed but they are not ruined by tourism as Phuket and Samui are in my opinion.
Hope this helps.
Best,
Frank
