Bangkok Parks
There are several parks in Bangkok that are perfect for tourists who might want to spend some time in the open. More than that, these parks offer creative recreation as well as fitness centers.
The following are some of the Bangkok parks that see many visitors each day.
Lumphini Park
Lumphini Park is often dubbed as “the central park”. Indeed, this park has become the center of most packed activities like concerts and marathons.
It is one of the most accessible, oldest, biggest and well-known parks in Bangkok. Shrouded by good trees and breezed by large clean lakes, the park is perfect for relaxation and family activities. There are theaters, libraries, souvenir stalls and sports centers.
Chatuchak Park
Chatuchak Park is a large park in the north of Bangkok where many young lovers stay. The Chatuchak Weekend Market is a few steps away. The Thai Literature and Herb garden attracts healthy appreciation and positive energy.
A Youth Traffic Garden and Train Museum are also nice places to wander. You can row a boat in the pond or simply tempt the fishes. There are tennis courts and soccer fields which are open to anyone.
Queen’s Park
The Queen’s Park in Benjasiri is favorable to sculptors. There are several Thai sculptures with various themes around the park.
In the center lies the work of master sculptor Mesium Yipinsoy – a fountain where the water dances with multimedia effects. The Benjasiri Park was built in honor of the queen’s 60th birthday. The park also features tennis court, basketball court, skating rink, swimming pool and sepak takraw/volleyball court.
King Rama IX Park
King Rama IX Park was built in 1987 for the 50th birthday anniversary of King Suan Luang. This Bangkok park has different zones. The first zone is “The Garden of the Great King” where yellow Ratchapreuk trees abound accenting the yellow color of the king.
The next zone is a botanical garden. The next Romanee Garden presents the landscape of Thailand regions. Next is a protected water park and last is a zone for festivities and sports.
Benjakitti
Benjakitti is one of the parks in Bangkok that overlooks the scenic skyline. It has jogging and cycling tracks around the whole park. It has a fountain in the center and a stage for occasions. There are fitness area, skateboarding ramps and paddle and row boats too.
Are you going there? You can hire a car and driver in Bangkok and go where ever you like for the ultimate in flexibility and comfort.

hi, how’s the situation in Bangkok right now? I mean..the flood and news in virtualtourist.com that saying Bangkok’s flood is dangerous. Could you please chare some updates?
Hi Dewi.
So far there is no flooding in central Bangkok. Some outer parts of the
city and areas around Bangkok are flooded though. The government will
probably let Bangkok be flooded soon to get the water down and out to sea.
But that will not last long if they do. Ayutthaya and some places around
Bangkok has been under water for a long time so they are considering
letting the water come down to save those places.
Despite what you may have heard the airport is not closed and has not been closed either. It is protected
by 3.5 meter tall barriers so it will not flood no matter what. The old
airport was flooded 2 days ago and they are still experiencing periodic
flooding there.
The situation is not as bad as depicted in the international media. It
makes me sad that companies like CNN, BBC etc exaggerates and outright
lies about the situation. So please do not listen to them. It has hurt the
tourism industry and the people of Thailand badly.

I think that this situation will pass in a couple of weeks. The rainy
season is over and the only areas flooded now are in central Thailand
(around Bangkok). But there is still a lot of water that needs to pass
Bangkok so it will take some time.
We will have a blog post on Sunday about the situation so might want to check back then.
