Deep Fried Insects
This one is most certainly not for the light hearted. For anyone brave enough to try them, believe it or not, these fried insect snacks have much in common with a bag of potato chips.
They’re greasy and tasty, they’re cheap and go great with a bottle of beer! They also have that exotic element that you just don’t get with potato chips, having six legs and eight eyes looking right at you!
Vendors often have a variety of these greasy, salted snacks on offer, ranging from tiny grubs and grasshoppers, to big ugly beetles and mean looking scorpions, all served with a sprinkling of ants for good measure.
Spicy? No
Where to Buy: Vendors

Top Tip: When you eat the bigger beetles and grasshoppers, do as the Thais do and pull the legs off first, they’re kind of crunchy and not so tasty!
