Gai Yang – Barbeque Chicken
One of the most popular street food snacks that you will see in Bangkok (and my husband’s favorite breakfast) are the pieces of deliciously tender barbecued chicken “Gai Yang” sold by vendors seemingly everywhere.
Cooked in front of your eyes, these are usually safe to eat and taste exceedingly good.
Typically, Thais will eat their pieces of chicken together with a small bag of sticky rice “Khao ni aw”, which makes for a very filling snack.
Most vendors selling this will also offer fried chicken and grilled pork as alternatives.
Spicy? No
Where to Buy: Vendors
Price: 10-35 Baht per piece
Eat With: Sticky rice and sweet sauce made of tamarind, fish sauce, sugar and red onion
Top Tip: Make sure that the meat has been grilled in front of you, any meats that have been left standing for a long time could give you an upset stomach later!
I will try all of the street foods in Bangkok 😀
