How to Travel from Bangkok to Pattaya
Travelling from Bangkok to Pattaya is one the easiest and most popular routes amongst tourists in Thailand. Pattaya is located in Chonburi 147km away from the city of Bangkok, in a southeast direction.
By bus, you can go along Highway 7 and Highway 3 from the Bangkok Eastern Bus Terminal. The bus is air conditioned and it leaves every thirty minutes.
You can also opt to go via car rental from the Suvarnabhumi Airport. You can arrive there without having to go through the route of Bangkok to Pattaya. It is best to reserve a car rental online so everything will be ready by the time you arrive at the airport.
Otherwise, contact one of the biggest car rental offices at the airport: Budget, National, Hertz or Avis.
Pattaya trips can take up to 2 hours but the traffic is unpredictable so it could take longer. If you are staying at a hotel somewhere in Bangkok, especially near Khao San Road, you can avail of the mini-van services. They usually charge 400 baht per person.
This is more convenient because you won’t have to go to the bus terminal or travel to the airport to go from Bangkok to Pattaya. The mini-van can pick you up at the hotel and take you directly to Pattaya.
Aside from hotel car services, you can also opt to ride in a taxi. Just stop any metered taxi in Bangkok and the driver will more than likely be willing to go. It will usually cost around 1,500 baht with additional expressway fees.
There are some private cars that offer a deal of 1,000 baht but it is risky to trust them, especially if you do not know your way around.
Or you can travel by train. There is a third class train from Hualamphong Station and it travels during weekdays to Pattaya. It leaves by 6:50 and you need only pay 31 baht for the trip, lasting three hours.
Finally, you can rent a driver from Bangkok Beyond to take you there safely and comfortably any time night or day.

Hi Christine. For 4 people we normally use a van as that is more comfortable. Or do you think a Toyota Camry will do? I will list the rates for both below for your reference.
So for:
1/4 – Full day outside Bangkok (12 hours)
– Sightseeing inside or very close to Pattaya
– For everything regarding transport (car/van, driver, gas, toll way and parking) we charge 4,250 Baht by car or 4,750 Baht by van
If you are interested please send an email to frank@bangkokbeyond.com and we can continue from there.
Thank you and best regards;
