When King Rama I commanded the construction of the Grand Palace in 1782, the Chinese merchants were asked to go outside the palace walls. To this day, they stay there and the place is as vibrant as ever making it a trading place for over two centuries.
In the twenty first century, Yaowarat is most promising. There are even more tall buildings, more shopping stalls, more business, more Chinese people and more people from all over the world. This is one proof of the industry of the Chinamen.

Chinatown has the best tom ka around. The place we ate at put grilled squid to give the soup an interesting flavor.
Tom ka gai, yummy. There is so much good food in Chinatown it makes my mouth water.
Haha, yes you can wait 20 mntiues between dishes sometimes! That’s Thailand! You have to adapt to the local culture, not the other way around
