Yaowarat – Bangkok’s Chinatown
Do you want to go to Chinatown in Bangkok? It is a place where you can find so many curious buyers and sellers. More so, there are many Chinese people there.
The Chinatown in Bangkok is like other places of Chinese in every city of the world. It is a very joyful and colorful place. It is a robust place too. Locally, it is known as the Yaowarat district. Here are many vendors, merchants and traders. The very spirit of the China merchants.
When King Rama I commanded the construction of the Grand Palace in 1782, the Chinese merchants were asked to go outside the palace walls. To this day, they stay there and the place is as vibrant as ever making it a trading place for over two centuries.
In the twenty first century, Yaowarat is most promising. There are even more tall buildings, more shopping stalls, more business, more Chinese people and more people from all over the world. This is one proof of the industry of the Chinamen.
You can find the culture of Chinese in every China town around the globe. There are protuding colorful red houses and the display of mirrors on their doors. For new generations of Chinese in Thailand, they still practice the Chinese traditions but they are very fluent in speaking the Thai language. This is very obvious because they have lived in Bangkok for many years and they have raised families here too.
The trademark of Chinatown is the many stores of all goodies. You can find these stores one after another and this can be called a paradise for the shoppaholic. There are various clothes, furnitures, accessories, gadgets, vases and garments for every kind of shopper. This is place perfect for budget shopping as there are many cheap goods but with very good quality.
What more, Chinese medicine comes along with the goods. Chinese medicine has been proven to be very good since they have the very first civilizations. Many kidless couple trust some fertility medicine from Chinese tradition too. There are many Chinese medicine products available in the medicine area of Yaowarat.
It is one pride of Thailand too to have them here. Yaowarat in Bangkok surely contributes to the economy of Thailand.

Your article about Yaowarat is very superficial and without having done good research. Phrases like “People from every race are curious about zodiac signs.” are just awful.

P.S I really liked your web site. I’ll look more closely at it later as I’m very interested in everything east meets west related.
Chinatown has the best tom ka around. The place we ate at put grilled squid to give the soup an interesting flavor.
Tom ka gai, yummy. There is so much good food in Chinatown it makes my mouth water.
Haha, yes you can wait 20 mntiues between dishes sometimes! That’s Thailand! You have to adapt to the local culture, not the other way around
